The US actor Willie Garson is dead. He died on Tuesday at the age of 57, as reported by several US media, citing the US broadcaster HBO and Garson's family.
Initially, nothing was known about the cause of death.
Garson was best known to many as Carrie's best friend, Stanford Blatch, from the "Sex and the City" series.
The actor, born in New Jersey in 1964, had his breakthrough in Hollywood with guest appearances on US sitcoms such as "Cheers" and "Family Ties".
Most recently he was in front of the camera for the new edition of "Sex and the City".
Numerous stars said goodbye to Garson on social media.
"Such sad news and a terrible loss to the SATC family," Kim Cattrall tweeted.
“He was so funny, on screen and in real life.
He was a source of light, friendship, and show business wisdom, ”wrote Cynthia Nixon.
The Miranda actress also expressed her condolences to Garson's son Nathan: "I hope you know how proud he was to be your father."
