It is still difficult to convince some people to get vaccinated.

A doctor now told what fatal myths he had to listen to.

Munich – The vaccination campaign against the corona virus* in Germany is more than a year old. Nevertheless, reports and “felt facts” are circulating, especially in some obscure media, which sometimes make it impossible to convince opponents of the vaccine of vaccination*. Doctors in particular, who should actually be talking to vaccine skeptics at the specialist level, have to listen to emotional arguments in the discussions.

The skepticism is largely based on fears.

Political fears of a so-called elite that supposedly wants to control and dominate the people with vaccination.

Health fears about one's own body, which might not be able to tolerate the vaccination and fears about the vaccination itself, which is said to have not been researched well enough and long enough.

It is therefore extremely difficult to defend yourself against the most abstruse arguments and at the same time to take the fears of patients seriously during the pandemic*.

Corona virus: doctor reports abstruse stories

dr Gunther Quinkler from Cologne can sing a song about that. The head of the department for internal medicine and intensive care at St. Agatha Hospital told the

Express

how these talks can go. "It's very frustrating and tiring. You talk for a relatively long time, but you don't find a common ground". There is also talk of freedom, people do not want to be dictated to.

For the intensive care physician, however, the topic of vaccination is less pompous and more of a banality: he explains that the corona vaccination only stimulates the production of a protein.

However, this counters the myth that vaccination causes a “gene mutation”.

In this context, Quinkler reports on a man who actually left him speechless: “There are men who no longer sleep with their vaccinated wife because they don't want to get this 'gene stuff' inside them.

That's sick nonsense.

These are stories, you can only shake your head, you can't say anything."

Coronavirus: Individual decision about your own body

However, as Quinkler knows, the doctor's job is to advise patients and treat them if they so wish.

Anyone who doesn't take a corona disease seriously and believes that it's all a lie and refuses treatment is at the end of the day to blame themselves.

Nevertheless, the refusal of the vaccination is lacking in solidarity.

"It's unfair to the majority.

But it corresponds to the zeitgeist: I, I, I.

One only wonders how many such people society can tolerate,” says the Cologne chief physician.

Everyone has to make their own decision - it would only help if you could base the discussions on scientific facts rather than relying on felt facts a year after the start of the vaccination campaign.
