Germany gets a few hot days at the beginning of summer.

In between, however, there are always storms.

And: The risk of forest fires is extremely high.

Munich - This summer is off to a lightning start.

And that in two senses.

Since the beginning of the calendar summer, Germany has been sweating almost consistently at over 30 degrees.

But the warmest season of the year is by no means stingy with storms either.

And so the coming hours and days offer almost all the ingredients from the summer weather kitchen.

Georg Haas from

wetter.com

speaks of “three storm seasons” within three days .

With Dominik Jung from

wetter.net

, the weather prospects sound only slightly better: "First heat, then lightning and spread the highest level of forest fire danger." It's definitely going to be turbulent around the last weekend in June - not just in Bavaria.

Weather in Germany: Up to 17 hours of sunshine on Thursday

And that already applies to this Thursday.

"Two lows are responsible for the weather turbulence, which will mainly start tonight from the west," Jung picks out the culprits without naming Qiara and Rebecca.

But basically they're just doing their job.

First of all, June 23, 2022 was “friendly everywhere, lots of sunshine, 14 to 17 hours of sunshine”.

And all this with really midsummer temperatures: Apart from the coasts, a three comes first everywhere.

Plenty of sun: All in all, it remains too warm in Germany.

Danger of forest fires in Germany: meteorologist Jung warns of caution on Thursday

But this pure enjoyment of the sun also has its downsides.

In some places, the risk of forest fires reaches the highest of the five warning levels: in the far east and around the state border of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania-Brandenburg-Saxony-Anhalt-Lower Saxony.

"You really have to be very careful there," Jung says.

In the evening, lightning will take over in some regions.

The meteorologist predicts "from the south-west the first showers and thunderstorms, some of them heavy, over the course of the night this band of rain and severe weather will spread to the west and south".

The temperatures remain at 14 to 18 degrees overnight.

Storm over Germany: Friday brings "danger of flash floods, hail and gusts of wind"

Jung announces Friday as “heavy weather”.

The west, south-west and south may feel addressed primarily.

"Again and again, sometimes heavy showers and thunderstorms with heavy rain, with the risk of flash floods, with hail, with gusts of wind - the full program" are to be expected.

There is a risk of severe weather from the North Sea coast down to the Black Forest and even to the Alps.

It can get warm up to 32 degrees, the air is sometimes "stifling hot".

Something is brewing: Dark cloud fields are not uncommon, especially in southern Germany.

Weekend weather in Germany: Almost all sun on Saturday - showers and thunderstorms from Sunday evening

On Saturday, the sun will take over again almost everywhere, only in the north will there be “a few more showers and thunderstorms”.

The thermometer should show between 22 and 30 degrees.

At the end of the week it will be "summer to midsummer warm" nationwide, the temperatures can climb up to 33 degrees on Sunday.

Best weather for excursions - especially to the lakes and outdoor pools.

But the big end comes in the course of the day.

According to Jung, "new showers and thunderstorms and some potential for severe weather again" are hitting the West.

This is also summer in Germany: Heavy rain repeatedly hits the Federal Republic.

Weather forecast for Germany: Temperatures are “well above the average climate”

The climate expert also dares to look forward to the next two weeks.

Lo and behold: It stays hot, which is why storms are likely to develop again and again.

In the north it will remain "too warm for the current season" until July 8th.

As for all points of the compass, Jung states: "We are well above the average climate." In the west, "there will always be one mountain of heat after the other" in the coming days, the east can expect daily temperatures of mostly around 30 degrees, the south is allowed to up to 33 or even 35 degrees as well as one or the other shower-like cooling.
