On Jodel, a user posts two packages that were more or less stuffed into his mailbox.

He's annoyed - some think, wrongly.

Nuremberg – Since Amazon has had its place in consumer society, but at the latest with the Corona pandemic, private home orders have increased drastically.

This always causes heated discussions: while some criticize the sheer order quantity of the Germans, others are annoyed about the often questionable way of delivery.

A typical example of this recently took place in the Jodel app in Nuremberg: the annoyed recipient of the parcels, critics of the ordering process and a former DHL parcel deliverer all have their say.

Jodel from Nuremberg: Questionable parcel delivery - discussion on the net

It all starts with a photo of a mailbox crammed with packages, which a user uploads to Jodel and attaches an emoji with annoyed rolled eyes.

The first Jodel users reacted with sarcasm - that a package would still fit in the mailbox, or that this could pass as modern art.

A user then asks critically whether the author of the photo would have preferred it if the deliverer had taken the packages back.

"What's the problem?" he asks.

He said it would have been better if the packages had been taken away and yes, that was a problem, is the answer.

Another person intervenes and comments that the problem is the lack of theft protection, data protection and the lack of protection against damage.

Another commentator sees the blame on the customer: "Then just be at home when you order something."

Package discussion on Jodel: who is to blame?

The discussion continues through several comments.

One side criticizes that you shouldn't order anything if you're not at home at the time of delivery, and if you are, then you should specify a drop-off point or a parcel station.

The other side says it goes without saying that the package has to be taken away if the recipient isn't at home - and you can never order anything if you work full-time away from home.

In the course of the discussion, a supposed former DHL employee (cannot be verified due to the anonymity of the platform) also intervened.

He shares his experience of being criticized in both cases: If you take the package with you, the criticism is why you didn't leave it there.

If you leave it there, you would complain that the delivery was not taken back.

But even after many more comments, the Jodel users do not agree.
