“Simple risk areas” should be eliminated: High incidence areas soon from an incidence of 100?

The federal government is planning to tighten entry rules for unvaccinated travelers from August 1st.

But there should also be changes in the classification of risk areas.

In all likelihood, the mandatory test for travelers returning will come into force on Sunday (August 1st).

This means that all travelers who are not fully vaccinated or have recovered have to be tested for the corona virus after returning to Germany.

It does not matter which country you are coming from or which means of transport.

Air travelers have had to present a negative corona test at the place of departure since March, unless they have been vaccinated or have recovered.

In addition, according to media information, something should also change in the classification of risk areas *.

Soon no more “easy risk areas”?

Instead, tightening in high-risk areas

According to information from Focus Online, the new regulation means that a risk assessment by the Robert Koch Institute for the Federal Foreign Office will be abolished. So far, EU countries with a 7-day incidence of 50 or more new infections per 100,000 inhabitants have been classified as “simple risk areas”. Countries with an incidence above 200 are classified as a high-incidence area. Areas in which there is a high risk of infection due to the spread of virus variants of the coronavirus are considered virus variant areas.

But that should change from August: According to Focus information, the travel industry has a draft from the Federal Ministry of Health, according to which holiday destinations are only to be classified into two categories in the future: high-risk areas and virus variant areas.

The “simple risk areas” should then no longer exist

unvaccinated travelers returning from high-risk areas, a ten-day quarantine obligation should then

apply - also for children up to twelve years of age.

From the fifth day onwards, those affected can "free themselves".

Children up to the age of twelve can leave the quarantine after five days without a test.

According to the plans, vaccinated and convalescent people should still be able to enter without self-isolation.

Those returning from virus variant areas must continue to be in a 14-day quarantine.

This cannot be shortened by a negative test.
