The ARD magazine "Kontraste" has been evaluating 66 roll-call votes since October 2018. The testimony about the presence of politicians is particularly bad for the AfD. They were therefore far more likely than their colleagues from other groups missing.
The AFD faction thus arrives on average at a false rate of 13.57 percent - the average value of all MPs is 10.73 percent. According to "Contrasts", this is the result of publicly available figures from the Bundestag administration.
The second highest failure rate for roll calls had the FDP fraction with 12.95 percent, just behind the left was 12.74 percent. For the SPD the miscarriage was 10.31 percent, for the Greens it was 9.16 percent. On average, members of the CDU / CSU parliamentary group (8.64 percent) were absent in these votes.
Weidel rejects criticism
The value is in contrast to the announcement of the AFD: The party, which was drafted into the Bundestag in 2017, had attached great importance to showing strong presence in parliament right at the beginning of the legislature - and accusing other parties of insufficient presence.
According to "contrasts", AFD parliamentary leader Alice Weidel replied to the statistics: "The others are far more absent, I do not know what statistics you have."
But her colleague Hansjörg Müller said that his group has now "arrived in reality." The group has learned that the actual work of members of parliament did not take place in plenary.
Roll-call votes are common for particularly important or controversial decisions. In these cases, the Bundestag publishes lists in which the voting behavior of each individual member is noted. However, these roll-call votes make up only a small part of the votes in the Bundestag.
