The Department of Health announced at 7.30 pm that staff of the Correctional Services Department, the Customs, the Fire Services Department and the Immigration Department were appointed to assist in the enforcement of the Compulsory Quarantine Regulations for Certain Arrivals (Cap. 599C) ("Regulations") to ensure that Under the Regulations, persons subject to quarantine inspection must stay in their homes for compulsory quarantine. Health officers and police officers are those authorized to implement the Regulations. They will assist in on-site inspections of compulsory quarantine personnel. During the raids, the officers will wear their department uniforms or department vests and present their credentials to prove their identity.
The Department of Health said that the government also has a number of measures to monitor the compliance of quarantine persons with quarantine orders. The Office of the Government Chief Information Officer monitors the location of the quarantine person through the real-time location sharing function of the communication software, and will conduct a video call with the quarantine person. In addition, the Department of Health will also call the quarantine person to ensure that they stay in the residence.
The spokesman reiterated that all quarantine persons must strictly abide by the quarantine order. If anyone does not stay in the compulsory quarantine residence full time, the government will require relevant persons to immediately wear electronic devices or stay in closed quarantine camps as needed. The Government will also consider prosecuting persons who have not complied with a compulsory quarantine order. Those persons who are convicted will be sentenced to a maximum of six months in prison and a fine of $ 25,000.
