Reputed to be the most difficult of the transatlantic races, the legendary English transatlantic race, now called The Transat CIC, will start on May 10 from Brest with a plateau made up of 28 solo sailors. For this 15th edition, four Ultims trimarans, including the title holder Macif (entrusted to the good care of Pascal Bidégorry) will set sail for Charleston in South Carolina (EU). They will be accompanied by 17 Imoca monohulls in full preparation for the Vendée Globe (departure on November 8) and 7 Class 40 monohulls.
Armel Tripon (L'Occitane en Provence) explained during the press conference: “The Transat CIC has triple importance for me this year. It will be my first solo race on my new Imoca. And then, it will also be the start of a life together with my boat for ten days in competition, and at the same time, the opportunity to qualify for the Vendée Globe. I'm not worried, I'm just so impatient, I want to go there, to cross this beefy North Atlantic on my boat and arrive as best as possible in Charleston… ”
