The Higher Education Council has issued admission rules to apply to the Open Education trade-off for the 2019-2020 academic year.

The Council stipulated in a decision that SANA received a copy of it today to admit students from the Syrian Secondary School Certificate or its equivalent, that it has been at least two years old and obtained the general or professional secondary certificate required to enroll in the program.

The decision also indicated that the student should achieve the requirement of the mark in some subjects of the secondary certificate as follows: 70% in the English language for those who wish to apply to trade translation program in the English language provided that the language of differentiation is consistent with the competence and 70% in the Arabic language and 65% In the foreign language course “English or French” for those who wish to apply to the trade-off program.

According to the decision, the vocational secondary schools issued by the public authorities in Syria or its equivalent shall be accepted in accordance with the conditions stipulated in the absorption decision.

In another resolution, the Council of Higher Education determined the number of new students in the open education programs for the academic year 2019-2020, with 1,000 students in the legal studies program at Damascus University, 500 students for both media and translation programs in English, international studies, diplomacy and diploma of educational rehabilitation at Damascus University and 800 students for each. Accounting and management programs for small and medium enterprises and 700 students in the kindergarten program.

On October 17, the council issued a decree authorizing a student with a high school diploma in the same year of admission to apply for an open education trade if he is over 24 years old and his rate does not allow him to admit to universities subject to the regulation of universities or institutes affiliated to the Supreme Education Council.
