(ANSA) - NEW YORK, FEBRUARY 27 - For the first time in 39 years, Steven Spielberg passes his hand on Indiana Jones. The 73-year-old reporter will not direct the fifth episode of the series on the archaeologist-adventurer to whom HarrisonFord has given the face. Variety reports it. James Mangold (Le Mans '66 - The Grand Challenge) is said to be in talks to inherit the direction.
According to Variety, Spielberg will remain involved in the design as a producer while it is still unknown if George Lucas will have a role as in the past. Ford, 77, is confirmed in the cast. Shooting - said the actor - should begin next summer. Disney said it was "entirely his decision."
Until now Spielberg had held on to the "IndianaJones" series more than any other to which he linked his name including "Shark" and "Jurassic Park". Thanks to the first four films with Harrison Ford - the first "Raiders of the Lost Ark" released in 1981 - the director has won eight Oscar nominations, including the one for the best film. (HANDLE).
