Belgium maintained their perfect record in the Euro 2020 qualifiers after sweeping Scotland 4-0 in Group 9.

Belgium, who top the world governing body's rankings, appeared in their own category against home opponents and scored three times before half-time through Romelu Lukaku, Thomas Vermeilen and Toby Alderfried.

De Bruyne tapped into his unique individual effort during the match with a superb finish to score the fourth goal.

The victory lifted Belgium to 18 points from six games, three ahead of second-placed Russia, who needed a 89th-minute goal by Mario Fernandez to beat Kazakhstan 1-0.

The first two teams qualify for next year's finals.

Scotland drew the heaviest defeat at home, which means their low hopes of qualifying for the group have ended but they can reach the finals through the play-offs.

Scotland dropped to the bottom of the table after Cyprus beat San Marino 4-0 to overtake Scotland by one point.
