"All my passions" on 126 meters: After the death of Microsoft co-founder Paul Allen, his yacht built in Germany "Octopus" is sold - on-board cinema, recording studio and own submarine included.

Whoever buys this ship, also acquires a piece of rock'n roll history: Mick Jagger has recorded on "Octopus" times a song for an album, and a private concert of the band U2 reportedly turned out to be so loud that the speakers burned out. That's what the US media say.

Now the 126-meter-long superyacht "Octopus" is for sale, cost: 295 million euros, it says in the ad of the yacht broker Fraser. The ship comes from the estate of Microsoft co-founder Paul Allen, the multi-billionaire died in October 2018.

"All my passions"

The "Octopus" was built in 2003 by the German Lürssen shipyard, as at the time the fourth largest yacht in the world. And the other three, Allen noted with some pride, were built for heads of state, not privateers like him. "When I first stood on the bridge, I felt like I was on a spaceship," Allen wrote in his autobiography. "All my passions come together in a moving party".

And all passions evidently had many. So the yacht not only has an on-board cinema, a basketball court and a sound studio. It is equipped with two helicopter landing pads and a private submarine with space for ten people.

It's of course bang-yellow, as befits a connoisseur of music history.
