(CNN Spanish) - The journalist Carlos Fernando Chamorro, director of the Confidential digital weekly and television programs This week and Tonight, returned to Nicaragua on Monday
along with 8 other people, including independent journalists who worked during the last months in Costa Rica.

Chamorro, who lived 11 months in exile, warned that there are no security conditions for tens of thousands of exiles to return to the country who, according to him, abandoned
the country to preserve their lives, after participating in the anti-government protests initiated in April 2018.

The mechanism for monitoring Nicaragua, MESENI, of the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights, says in its November bulletin that 88,100 Nicaraguans fled to neighboring countries since the beginning of the crisis. The government has not submitted an official figure. In official acts, President Daniel Ortega has invited those who wish to return because, according to the president, there is security in the country.

In his request, Chamorro requested the return of international human rights organizations such as the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights and the UN and requested
the disarmament of the so-called paramilitaries who, for the Government, are undercover police

The journalist added that he will fight to return his equipment and facilities where Confidential worked, and his television programs, which remain occupied.
by the National Police since December 2018, although according to him, it is an independent personal property of the Communication Research Center, FIVE.

The National Assembly canceled the legal status of FIVE in December 2018, on the grounds that they supported an attempted coup d'etat.

Upon the arrival of the journalist, Augusto C. Sandino, his brothers Cristiana and Pedro Joaquín Chamorro Barrios and the president of the Nicaraguan Center were waiting for him at the airport
of Human Rights, CENIDH, Vilma Núñez.

Carlos Fernando Chamorro is the son of journalist and politician Pedro Joaquín Chamorro Cardenal, murdered in 1978 and former president Violeta Barrios, who ruled Nicaragua
between 1990 and 1996.
