The Chinese authorities announced today the first deaths from the new coronavirus outside Hubei Province, which is the source of the disease, bringing the total confirmed deaths to 18.
The South China Morning Post reported that authorities in Hubei Province had ordered the closure of 8 cities, including Wuhan, and a travel ban, noting that one case had been registered in Hebei Province, near Beijing, for an 80-year-old man who died yesterday.
It turned out that the man had been visiting his relatives in Wuhan for more than two months, according to the Chinese newspaper Hebei Daily, noting that the health authorities had removed 76 people who had been in close contact with him and that none of them had been injured.
And China announced earlier today that the number of people infected with the new Coronavirus has increased to 571, as well as 17 deaths from the virus that appeared in Wuhan.
