(CNN) - A construction worker died while working at the Disneyland property in Anaheim, California, early Thursday, police said.
The 38-year-old man worked for a park contractor when he was trapped under a large metal plate in a groove, Anaheim police sergeant Daron Wyatt said.
The worker was installing a large pipe when "the construction team hit a cross beam, dislodged the plate, which fell and hit it," Wyatt said.
Anaheim Fire and Rescue could rescue him from the scene, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.
"We are sad about this tragic accident that involved a contractor and, on behalf of Disneyland Resort, we express our deepest condolences to this gentleman's family, friends and co-workers," said Liz Jaeger, spokesman for Disneyland Resort.
