Olympics, European Football Championships, French Open - and much more: Almost all of the sporting highlights in the middle of the year fall flat. When and how it will go on is hardly known at the moment. How do you know?

Stuttgart (dpa) - Almost all major sporting events this summer have already been canceled or postponed due to the spread of the corona virus. As in the case of Olympia, it is currently still unclear when they will be made up for.

But one thing is certain: The planners are facing an extraordinary challenge. Because nobody knows how long the corona pandemic will last. An overview of the situation during the most important sporting events:

OLYMPIA: The 32nd Summer Games will be postponed to the next year. However, it is unclear exactly when the mega event in Tokyo should now take place. The IOC wants to quickly coordinate with the international sports associations to find the dates. Olympia should be rescheduled by summer 2021 at the latest.

FOOTBALL EM: The European Football Championship is already a step ahead of the Olympic Games - it already has a specific catch-up date. The pan-European tournament is scheduled to take place from June 11 to July 11, 2021. Olympia will not take place during this period.

FOOTBALL EUROPEAN CUP: Much remains unclear here. UEFA had recently postponed the Champions League and Europa League finals, originally scheduled for late May. The finals in the premier class were originally scheduled to rise on May 30 in Istanbul, the final in the Europa League on May 27 in Gdansk. The relocation also affects the Champions League for women, where the winner should be determined on May 24 in Vienna.

FOOTBALL BUNDESLIGA: At least until April 30, the ball will also be in the Bundesliga on the recommendation of the German Football League (DFL). At their general meeting on March 31, the 36 clubs are to adopt this recommendation.

FORMULA 1: All races have been canceled up to and including June 7 (Grand Prix in Azerbaijan).

ICE HOCKEY World Cup: The World Cup in Switzerland was canceled without replacement.

LEICHTATHLETIK-EM: The post-Olympic event planned for August 25-30 has not yet been canceled. The World Federation hopes that its athletes will still be able to compete at some point this year, possibly at one-day meetings in a late outdoor season.

HANDBALL BUNDESLIGA: The game continues to cease, initially until the end of April. However, those responsible still hope to finish the season. Whether this works will be decided in mid-May at the latest.

BASKETBALL BUNDESLIGA: It is similar in the BBL. Game operations will initially be suspended until April 30. After about three hours of consultations, those responsible decided again on Wednesday not to cancel the season, as the German Ice Hockey League had recently decided.

US PROFILE: All major leagues have stopped playing for the time being. It is open when it will continue.

TENNIS: The French Open has already been postponed and is now scheduled to take place from September 20th to October 4th. What happens to Wimbledon is still open. Given the current developments, it is unlikely that the classic will take place from June 29 to July 12 as planned.

GIRO D'ITALIA: The second largest tour in the world, like all spring classics, has been canceled. It is still open whether the races will be rescheduled.
