Edouard Philippe: "The wild cuts of electricity must be punished"

2020-01-21T18:04:07.153Z

This Tuesday in the Assembly, the Prime Minister condemned the wild power cuts, demanding sanctions for their perpetrators.

The violence, strikes and savage actions of certain unions were at the heart of the Questions to Government session held this Tuesday afternoon in the National Assembly. The wild power cuts were notably at the origin of a pass of arms between the PCF deputy Pierre Dharréville and Edouard Philippe.

The elected communist of Bouches-du-Rhône challenged the Prime Minister on his pension reform "rejected by the opposition. Édouard Philippe insisted on responding himself and strongly condemned the power cuts claimed by the CGT Energie for the past few days in protest against the pension reform.

"These blockages, intrusions and wild power cuts must be punished," said the host of Matignon. "Wanting to block a certain number of sites, not respecting the law by breaking into such and such a private enclosure, carrying out savage power cuts, all of this is to misunderstand democracy, all of this is to misunderstand the law and all that must be punished because it is not acceptable, ”declared the Prime Minister.

In the sights of Edouard Philippe, the blocking of seaports, the various power cuts like that claimed this Tuesday morning by the CGT in the Orly, Fresnes and Rungis area, where nearly 30,000 Enedis customers, the electricity manager, would have been affected. Or actions within the Parisian headquarters of the CFDT.

The management of the CGT has dissociated itself from these acts

“The production tool, it respects itself; public service, it respects itself; our fellow citizens, they respect each other, ”insisted Édouard Philippe. "When we make wild power cuts, we necessarily put our fellow citizens, the users of the public service, in a situation which is sometimes dangerous and that is not acceptable," insisted the Prime Minister.

Monday, the leadership of the CGT had dissociated themselves from these acts, saying, in a press release, "attached to a democratic debate on the pension reform. A disavowal that does not move the base. "Released or not by the top of the union, unionism, it is not three or four people in an office who decide our actions", justified Franck Jouanno, CGT representative in Val-de-Marne, department where these giant cuts of current have occurred. "Besides, the action which was carried out on Tuesday morning was not decreed in our union offices, it was decreed with the employees and for the employees", he recalls.

For his part, while the pension reform bill is due to be presented to the Council of Ministers on Friday, the Prime Minister once again affirmed that his "determination was complete, total, calm".
