For personnel and finances: Christiane Schoenefeld moves into board of the Federal Employment Agency

Predecessor Valerie Holsboer had to go after a tough power struggle at the head of the Federal Employment Agency. With Christiane Schönefeld, the economy is now relying on a homegrown plant of the authority.

Valerie Holsboer was the first woman on the board of the Federal Employment Agency - and had to go under pressure from employers. The 62-year-old Christiane Schönefeld from North Rhine-Westphalia is to take her place in the future.

After Schoenefeld was proposed by the employer, the board of directors of the Federal Agency for Schoenefeld has spoken. Employees and employers in the 21-member body traditionally carry their reciprocal personnel proposals with them.

The post had become vacant after months of disputes over the role of former head of finance Holsboer. She had to vacate her post just under pressure from employers, having previously sat herself for years as a business representative on the BA's oversight body. Apparently, she was not able to form a counterweight to BA boss and SPD member Detlef Scheele in the three-man board.

"Many years of leadership experience"

Schoenefeld currently heads the Regional Directorate North Rhine-Westphalia of the Federal Agency, now the lawyer should take over the responsibility for personnel and finances on the board.

Schönefeld is a homegrown company of the authority and is considered experienced. The staff proposal must now be submitted to the Federal Government, which still has to confirm it.

"Ms Schönefeld is a very competent and sought-after labor market expert with many years of management experience in the Federal Employment Agency," said Annelie Buntenbach, Chairwoman of the Board of Directors.

Schoenefeld is to give the Federal Agency in future from Nuremberg essential impulses. It should go above all to the conversion of the largest German authority to more advice and less pure brokering.

Steffen Kampeter, Chief Executive of the Confederation of German Employers' Associations, was also elected as the new Vice-Chairman of the BA's Board of Directors in the special session.
