While all shellfish from the Mont-Saint-Michel bay area and the Hirel shellfish growing area (Ille-et-Vilaine) "are prohibited from fishing, collecting, shipping and marketing, up to 'on further notice' due to the detection of 'norovirus', the most common cause of gastroenteritis, several companies are withdrawing or recalling products.
The products concerned were sold in particular in stores of the System U, Auchan or Carrefour brands. If you have ever consumed one of these products and you have symptoms, it is advisable to destroy them and consult your doctor.
Oysters, mussels, cockles and clams
The System U brand thus announces to its customers the recall of products sold in its traditional fishmonger's stores and sold from December 16 to 31. Carrefour announces that the Fine de Cancale company is recalling its Cancale oysters, Cancale oysters from Carrefour Quality Line and Cancale organic oysters sold in ten of its stores. The company "Les Viviers de Saint Colomban et Keroman" also recalls its "fine Breton oysters, farmed cockles, fishing hull, farmed clam, fishing clam".
