Eight kilometers separate the Wildmooshalle in Gröbenzell and yesterday's derby venue, the Georg-Scherer-Halle on Gröbenrieder Straße in Dachau. But the biggest difference in the basement derby of the 3rd Bundesliga made ten late goals early Sunday evening. With the 28:18 (12:11) victory, the HCD handball players gave themselves some air in the table cellar.
Gröbenzell - The team of trainer returnee Hendrik Pleines also laid the foundation stone for Dachau's still coach Stefan Weidinger to look after a third division team in the new season. The ex-brucker had signed his contract in Groebenzell before the game.
Despite all the personnel turmoil in the previous week - at the HCD trainer Konstantin Schlosser had to go, in Dachau his colleague Thomas Lukauer - the Gröbis kept a clear head in front of 400 spectators at the start of four away matches in a row. Everyone in the hall was expecting a relegation duel on bending and breaking. Weidinger, who raged like a dervish on the sidelines like a colleague from Groebenzell, saw the yellow card. But the Dachau trainer also felt that his girls were running out of strength. And then the Gröbis flipped the famous switch. Suddenly everything worked. From 14:14 the Gröbis turned 21:14 within eight minutes. That was the preliminary decision. Especially since goalkeeper Theresa Bauer was getting stronger and hardly allowed a clean sheet. In the end, after 60 exhausting minutes, all of the Gröbenzell women fell from the heart.
