Author and singer, Chloé Lacan tells herself and recounts her journey through her passion for Nina Simone, who died in 2003. “Everything separates us, the era, the country and the color of skin. And yet, at the start, there are two little girls, ”she explains. And the same desire to become an artist, to free oneself from the shackles of education and prejudice. "Birds Flying High You Know How I Feel" , sings the American jazz singer, prodigy pianist from the age of 5 and who dreams of being the "first black classical concertist in America" .
While her fan remembers the first time she heard her peculiar timbre. From her childhood to her, liturgical songs which resounded in the church when she accompanied her grandmother to mass. From the "girl" , then from the "perfect woman" whom she ardently wanted to be for her disunited parents. "For a long time, I did what it took to please my mother, to keep my father," says Chloé Lacan.
