The West Asian Women's U-16 Championship starts tomorrow in Al-Faihaa Sports Hall in Damascus, with the participation of the Syrian, Iraqi and Lebanese teams, announcing the return of the international championships to the basketball halls after ten years of their hosting.

The championship opens at 4:30 pm tomorrow, with our team to meet its Iraqi counterpart at six o'clock, and Lebanon will face its Iraqi counterpart Monday at six o'clock. The tournament will end with our team meeting its Lebanese counterpart on Tuesday at the same time.

Our team is competing in the championship matches, which will continue until the tenth of this month, in a group that includes players Yana Afif, Maria Al-Badr, Ermik Pushkisyanian, Bruin Khalil, Lara Gogh G, Dala'a Hammoud, Perveen Jjo, Lynn Bernah, Ghalia Kilani, Semel Al-Ahmar, Alyssa Al-Dabal and Sarah Elias.

Team coach Rim Sabbagh, in a statement to SANA, made it clear that the team prepared well for this championship through a camp in Belarus last April and Jordan's friendly championship, which we won recently, in addition to matches with local teams such as Qassioun, Ashrafieh and Unity, pointing out that the players of the team are in high physical and technical readiness Expected to provide a good level in the championship to compete for the title.

The West Asian Basketball Federation held its meeting at the General Sports Federation headquarters in Damascus last October after a break of years and discussed the support and development of the Syrian basket, where it was decided to establish two tournaments, one of which is the tournament that will be held tomorrow and the second for the category under 18 for males next February, which will contribute to activating International championships again in Syria.
