New York (CNN Business) - After months of waiting, Apple's new software update for iPhones is almost here.

iOS 13, the latest version of Apple's mobile operating system, will be officially available Thursday for anyone with an iPhone 6S model or later. The update promises a series of significant changes.

These are some of the key features of iOS 13 that Apple has announced so far:

Dark mode

Perhaps the most valuable update in iOS 13 is the dark mode. Apple will give users the option of having a dark background that is said to be more pleasing to the eye and potentially better for battery life. Some prefer it purely as a stylistic option.

Slide to write

Tired of typing one letter at a time on your phone? Apple is set to present a new Quickpath keyboard, which allows you to swipe to type faster, similar to how Google Gboard works. Until now, Apple users interested in this option have had to rely on applications from other developers, such as SwiftKey.

A new privacy feature

The company has a new feature that allows you to log in to third-party websites and applications using your Apple ID. As part of this option, called Sign in with Apple, you can even choose to have Apple generate an email address to sign in to these services, which limits the amount of personal information you must provide.

Maps

Apple Maps will have some updates. On the one hand, you can explore cities in 3D. With updated Apple maps, you can also access the favorite places you frequent and create collections of places you want to visit.

Siri

While Siri did not receive much mention during the Apple event in September this year, the voice assistant is receiving some changes. Siri will soon be able to read your incoming messages and allow you to share audio from their AirPods.

Apple Arcade

Apple's new game subscription service launches on iOS 13. It costs $ 4.99 and has a catalog of more than 100 games. Analysts say it could be a turning point for mobile applications, but it could take some time to gain traction.
