The head of the “Tunisia Project” party and candidate for the upcoming Tunisian presidential elections, Mohsen Marzouk, announced that he would restore relations with Syria if he wins.
In an interview with the agency "Sputnik" said that "historical relations with Syria has always been good and I do not think that there was something to cut ties."
On the other hand, Marzouk pointed out that the current semi-parliamentary system in Tunisia does not allow an executive authority capable of making decisions quickly and uniformly.
Regarding the issue of immigration, Marzouk said: "I assure that Tunisia will not only accept to remain a guard of the borders of Europe and demand legitimate relations in this context."
In response to reports by some Tunisian media that some international alliances are behind some of the candidates, he said: `` This happened in 2014 in the context of the conflict of axes in the Arab region and may be present in the 2019 elections, but I can not say for sure and in any case must be distanced process Tunisian national politics out of sovereignty over foreign influences. "
Regarding the Russian-Tunisian relations, Marzouq stressed the need to strengthen the Tunisian-Russian relations in all fields, especially economic.
The Independent High Electoral Commission in the Tunisian capital decided to organize presidential elections prematurely after the announcement of the death of President Beji Caid Essebsi on the 25th of last July, not later than 90 days from the date of the interim president took office, and the 15th of September approved the date for these elections.
