The Ministry of Interior announced that a person with previous backgrounds has been exposed running a Facebook page that publishes fabricated news about the exchange rates of the Syrian pound.

The Ministry stated on its page on “Facebook” that the Information Crime Prevention Branch of the Criminal Security Department monitored a page on “Facebook” called “Damascus Central Market” that publishes fabricated news about currency exchange rates against the Syrian pound and shows that it is managed from outside Syria by the invited “Muhammad Amir Ayoubi Ibn Mahmoud.”

The ministry clarified that by checking the status of the plaintiff, it was found that he left Syria since 2015 and from previous owners, and that there are two precedents against him for the crime of theft at the Criminal Security Branch in Damascus and the second at the Second Military Court in Damascus, noting that the necessary legal action has been taken against the aforementioned.

The Ministry called on citizens not to be drawn into the fabricated news promoted by this page and some other media and social media sites that aims to harm the national economy and manipulate the exchange rate of the Syrian pound or republish this news so that they are not subject to legal accountability and prosecution.
