The Russian Foreign Ministry warned of the danger of nuclear war, noting that the US facilities are ready for a possible resumption of nuclear tests.
"The situation in strategic stability continues to deteriorate," Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov was quoted as saying by Sputnik news agency at Moscow's National Research University.
"We are concerned about the situation surrounding the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty (CTBT). After unjustified accusations against us of violating this treaty, the United States is working to preserve fields that are ready to resume these tests," Ryabkov said.
To put the world in front of a new arms race that serves its interests, the United States carried out its threats earlier this year to withdraw from the 1987 Intermediate-Range and Short-Range Nuclear Missile Treaty, despite Moscow's calls to preserve the treaty for its importance in ensuring international peace and security.
In response to the US decision to withdraw, which Moscow considered merely as a pretext to expand and develop the US missile program and launch a new arms race that refuses to be drawn into it, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced the suspension of his country's participation in the treaty.
