Hong Kong (CNN Business) - Nissan will call for review 1.23 million vans and sedans in the United States and Canada to solve a problem with the rear cameras on vehicles.
The call for review covers the 2018 and 2019 models of some of the company's most popular vehicles, such as the Nissan Rogue van and the Altima sedan.
Other affected vehicles are: Frontier, Kicks, Leaf, Maxima, Murano, NV, NV200, Pathfinder, Sentra, Titan, Versa Note and Versa Sedan, as well as several Infiniti models.
The problem with the rear camera systems in the affected vehicles is that they do not return to the default image when the transmission is reversed. This could cause poor or reduced rear visibility if a driver had previously adjusted the camera screen.
Nissan acknowledged in a letter to the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. UU. that reduced rear visibility "could lead to a greater risk of accidents in case the driver does not readjust the screen before backing up."
The Japanese automaker said the problem can be solved with a software update, which will be done for free at Nissan dealers.
Nissan will notify owners of SUVs and sedans affected by phases, starting October 21.
