Offensive in northern Syria: France no longer supplies Turkey with weapons

All export projects with armaments that could be used by Turkey in Syria would be suspended with immediate effect, the French foreign and defense ministries said in a joint statement.

The EU Foreign Affairs Council will decide on a coordinated European position on this issue at its meeting in Luxembourg on Monday, it said.

Earlier, Federal Foreign Minister Heiko Maas (SPD) had announced that the federal government would not grant new permits for armaments that could be used by Turkey in Syria. The Netherlands had said on Friday that all applications for export licenses of military equipment to Turkey would be suspended. Finland and Norway had previously announced that they would suspend their arms exports.
