One person was killed and five others injured this morning by gunfire near the White House in Washington.
"Six people were found shot, one of whom was dead, while the others were taken to hospital for treatment," Washington police official Stuart Emerman told local media.
A local television station posted photos on its Twitter account showing ambulances transporting victims from the scene to the hospital.
It was not immediately clear if the suspect in the incident had been arrested.
One person was killed and two others were injured in a shooting incident at a railway station in Seattle on Saturday.
