2020-02-10T08:07:24.470Z

Association and political leaders of the left, comedians and directors, sociologists, unionists and lawyers launched Monday a petition demanding a referendum on the withdrawal of the pension reform, to " solve " the " major democratic problem " it poses.

The more than 140 signatories deplore in their text, published in the daily L'Humanite, and the National Assembly, where reform is discussed in committee, "everything is organized to bypass the debate before the national parliamentary representation and encourage to vote blind, with the scheduled recourse to no less than 29 orders ”.

The " level of distrust" with regard to this reform, with "more than two months of mobilization " and " a majority of French people who are still asking for withdrawal ", " poses a major democratic problem ", add the signatories, whose national secretary of EELV Julien Bayou, the leader of La France rebellious Jean-Luc Mélenchon, the first secretary of the PS Olivier Faure, the director Bertrand Tavernier or the historian and demographer Emmanuel Todd. " At this stage, only a popular consultation would resolve it, " they say: " a referendum on the withdrawal of the government project must be organized so that the people have the last word ."

For a week, the special committee on pensions in the Assembly has been the scene of a permanent showdown between Insubmissive deputies and the majority, at the risk of stopping in the middle of the ford without having swept away the entire reform.

Among the other signatories to the petition, the vice-president of the Association of Mayors of France André Laignel, the PCF national secretary Fabien Roussel, the spokesperson for Droit au logement Jean-Baptiste Eyraud, the actors Bruno Gaccio and Corinne Masiero, sociologists Michel Pinçon and Monique Pinçon-Charlot, spokesperson for Attac Aurélie Found or even the workers' representative on the board of directors of the International Labor Organization Bernard Thibault.
