Russian President Vladimir Putin held talks with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on the situation in Syria.

The two sides stressed the importance of continuing joint and coordinated steps aimed at stabilizing the situation in northeastern Syria while strictly adhering to the principles of the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Syria, within the framework of the implementation of the Sochi Agreement, the statement said.

Putin and Erdogan welcomed the results of the first round of the constitutional debate committee, which ended its meetings yesterday in Geneva.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said in a statement earlier today that the decision to form a committee to discuss the constitution came during the Syrian-Syrian national dialogue conference held in the Russian city of Sochi in January 2018.
