The Embassy of the Federal Republic of Brazil in Damascus held a reception on the occasion of the 197th anniversary of the country's National Day at the Dama Rose Hotel in Damascus.

In a speech, Brazilian Ambassador to Damascus Fabio Petaluka won the depth of the friendly relations between the two countries, pointing out his country's support for Syria in its war on terrorism and the need to stand by it in the process of reconstruction and national reconciliation, pointing out that Syria belongs to the Syrians and its people alone have the right to determine their future.

The Brazilian ambassador congratulated Syria on the success of the 61st Damascus International Fair, pointing to his country's participation in the exhibition and the need to continue bilateral contacts in order to enhance trade exchange between the two countries.

Ambassador Petaloka stressed his country's defense of international law, multilateralism, the UN Charter and its work for world peace, dialogue, stability and understanding.

For his part, Assistant Foreign Minister and Emigrants Dr. Ayman Sousan praised Brazil's support for Syria against takfiri terrorist groups and the two countries looked forward to enhancing cooperation relations to achieve mutual interests, welcoming Brazil's contribution to the reconstruction of what was destroyed by terrorism.

Sosan stressed that the friendly relations between Syria and Brazil are based on solid foundations of mutual respect, adherence to international law and stability in the world, noting Brazil's stances and policies in support of the right and justice and the peaceful settlement of international issues in accordance with international law.

Susan pointed out the importance of Brazil's role globally as part of the BRICS group and its contribution to ensuring security, peace and stability in the world.

The ceremony was attended by Minister of Presidency Affairs Mansour Azzam, Justice Minister Hisham al-Shaar, Minister of State for Organizations and Unions Affairs Salwa Abdullah, Education Minister Emad al-Azab, member of the Central Command of the Arab Baath Socialist Party Dr. Mohsen Bilal, a number of governors, members of the People's Assembly and members and representatives of diplomatic bodies accredited in Damascus.
