Damascus - Sana
The General Organization for Food Industries intends to restart the Yarmouk pasta factory in Daraa province after a 14-year hiatus.
In a statement to the SANA Economic Bulletin, the director general of the foundation said that the foundation, in cooperation with Daraa governorate, started the rehabilitation and cleaning operation of the factory, which has been inactive since 2005, which has been affected by sabotage and destruction by armed terrorist groups.
She explained to me that the rehabilitation process is taking place in parallel with the feasibility study to restart the plant to be funded rehabilitation, operation and production of the emergency plan of the General Organization for Food Industries for the current and next year.
She pointed out to me that the restoration of this factory comes within the plan of the Ministry of Industry and its directions to operate the stalled factories and invest their energy and supply the local market with its products and provide consumers with quality and national standards and competitive prices.
The plan includes setting up new factories and production units to invest raw materials such as agricultural, animal and natural wealth available in all regions, while working to rehabilitate and operate destroyed factories according to their economic feasibility through direct funding from the institution or partnership with the private sector.
It is worth mentioning that during the current year, a number of production lines have been operated in a number of companies of the General Organization for Industries such as the Halawa and Ketchup lines in the Conservato of Damascus and the milk and labneh line in Damascus dairy, in addition to laying the foundation stone for a new dairy factory in Quneitra.
