In light of the tension between her and Meretz since the dissolution of the Knesset, the Knesset has declared that the Green Party headed by her will run separately from the Democratic camp. MK Shafir announced Wednesday (Wednesday) that the Green Party will run independently for the Knesset, in the background of a major tension between her and Meretz since the dissolution of the Knesset and doubts about the future of the "Democratic Camp". Shapir held a first active session of the Green Movement this week. The latter re-emerged as the Green Party, and in a speech at the conference said that "what's happening on the left is not a political camp - it's the Titanic. I have no intention of crashing into the iceberg, but to see that there is a governing alternative here. Anyone who wants consolidation rather than business - will come with us. If it is precisely at this historic moment that the Titanic people cannot combine forces and save the state - they have no political and public right to exist. "

Shapir said she has not yet abandoned efforts to unite left-wing parties, and has blamed the party's leaders for reluctance. "In the last election, we prevented Meretz's suicide, but unfortunately they are making it difficult for us to succeed in this time as well," she said. "If they still manage to go to the left camp in the left camp - we will come with heart, with open arms and with the energies we knew to bring in the previous round. If they decide to continue suicide - we will run with all our might."

Shapir, who started as a MK in the Labor Party and even faced Amir Peretz on the party's leadership last May, left the party afterwards and was one of the founders of the Democratic camp with Nitzan Horowitz and Ehud Barak set up for the September elections. Formerly headed by former MK Yael Cohen Faran, who was placed second on the list, which eventually received 5 seats.

However, since the new elections were announced, a great deal of tension broke out between Meretz and Meretz, in the background of Meretz's demand to rethink the unification agreement between the parties, which was only valid for the 22nd Knesset. Among other things, Meretz sought to re-discuss the locations of Shafir and Yair Golan on the list, as well as basic campaign guidelines and principles, raising concerns about Shafir trying to reject her off the list.

Earlier this week, the Meretz Conference approved the establishment of a negotiating team to renew the democratic camp's run agreement and attempt to bring the left-wing parties together.

Shapir's statement about independent running indicates that despite public pressure to unite Labor and Meretz and the small distance the two parties occupy in polls from the blocking percentage, the trend on the left is not of connections, but of splits. Meretz is also pushing for a union with the Labor Party, but at this point the Labor chairman opposes the move and believes that running separately will bring more seats to the left bloc. It is estimated that Peretz's move on this issue may only occur before the closing of the Knesset lists on January 14.
