(CNN) - The United States Navy tweeted that "they are aware of reports of a possible active shooter at the Pensacola Naval Air Station."

The Navy also said the air station is closed.

The Escambia County Sheriff's Office posted on its Facebook page: “We can confirm that there is no longer an active shooter in NAS Pensacola. It is confirmed that the shooter is dead. ”

Baptist Health Care has received 5 patients from the shooting of the Pensacola Naval Air Station, according to public relations specialist Kathy Bowers.

Bowers did not comment on the condition of the patients or the extent of their injuries.

Friday's closure at Pensacola comes just two days after an active-duty US sailor killed two civilian employees and injured another before committing suicide at the Pearl Harbor shipyard in Hawaii.
