(CNN) - A senator apparently opened fire on Monday amidst chaotic scenes in front of the Haitian Parliament building, in the capital, Port-au-Prince.
The images show Senator Ralph Fethiere getting out of his vehicle and aiming a gun in the air while people disperse.
An Associated Press photographer, Dieu-Nalio Chery, was injured during the commotion. The images obtained by Reuters showed Chery with a bandage on her face by an apparent shot.

It is not clear if Chery was injured by Fethiere's shooting, or if others were also firing weapons. At least one other person was photographed with a firearm outside Parliament at the time of the incident.
Chery, from Haiti, said on her Facebook page that doctors would remove the bullet "soon," and thanked people who had expressed their support.
"The doctors say that I am not at great risk," he wrote in the publication, adding that he needed to rest and could not talk much at the time.
Lauren Easton, AP's Director of Media Relations, told CNN that Chery was injured Monday in front of the Haitian Senate and is expected to be well.
"While it doesn't seem like he was the target, this is a reminder of the danger that journalists around the world face every day while doing their job, even in a routine task," the AP said in the statement.
CNN is trying to communicate with Fethiere.
Chaos occurs after recent protests over fuel and food shortages, Reuters reported. The country has been struggling with blackouts and rising fuel prices, which caused public anger against the government.
The photos of the protests, which have been occurring intermittently throughout the summer, have shown chaos in the capital city, with protesters burning car tires and clashes with the police.
