(CNN) - Six people died and two are in serious condition after a shooting in southwest Germany on Friday, police said, adding that the suspect was arrested.
The incident occurred at 12:45 pm local time (6:45 am ET) when an armed man opened fire in a building in the city of Rot am See, in the federal state of Baden-Württemberg.
A police spokesman in the nearby town of Aalen told CNN that the incident seemed to be related to a "family drama" and that the police operation was still ongoing.
The identities of the victims or that of the suspect have been disclosed by the authorities.
