Politics and fire brigades are a tradition at Schmidmayer in Erding: Hans Schmidmayer sen. celebrated his 90th birthday.
Erding– Not only family and friends congratulated him, representatives of the Erdinger SPD, the fire brigade and Mayor Max Gotz also congratulated him.
However, SPD chairman Horst Schmidt and deputy district chair Gertrud Eichinger not only presented him with a book gift, but also the Bavarian SPD's certificate of thanks for membership for over 70 years. Schmidmayer joined the Erdinger SPD on January 1, 1948. He was awarded the Willy Brandt Medal ten years ago.
Schmidmayer was a member of the city council from 1972 to 1984 and, as a former commander, also a fire officer. His son Hans, who is the fire officer and third mayor, followed in these footsteps. The father's commitment had also shaped the jubilee himself. From 1948 to 1966, he had governed Erding's mayor.
