Letters to the country
Updated 07/25/2021 8:00 AM
I am writing from Tandil, and I would like to talk to you about those people who were stranded.
It is a subject that seems to be
almost intentionally invisible.
We are many families who have relatives stranded in different parts of the world, in my case my husband, in Belgium.
He traveled for work and family reasons.
But who are the stranded?
Where are their faces?
There are thousands, as thousands were those who
they died due to mismanagement of the Government in the pandemic, waiting for vaccines and enduring the theft by the VIP Vaccinations.
There are hundreds and hundreds, like the floods of La Plata who refused and whose identity was erased in various morgues in the province.
There are thousands, like the relatives who
could not accompany and mourn their dead
, while shamefully we witness the Maradona wake show in La Rosada or countless official acts without the slightest protocol.
There are thousands and thousands, like the young people who were cut off from the educational system, abandoned from any formative-emotional bond, evicted from the only door that can open a thread of hope for them.
An international arrivals gate in Ezeiza. Controversy over the decision of the Government to prohibit the entry into the country of no more than 600 people per day, which has generated a strong malaise in the airlines and in the Argentines. EFE.
There are thousands, like the brave health agents, in all their ranks, who from very limited conditions, without epidemiological support at the height and with an inexhaustible vocation, continue to battle in every trench alongside the sick. There are thousands, like the thousands and thousands of workers, producers, entrepreneurs, owners and employees who argue with more difficulties than solutions, with
an absent State
that only thinks about taxes and more taxes, obstacles and limitations for the only sector that generates employment. genuine, who pays with many difficulties and who feels despoiled and a stone guest at a table where those who lay the body are absent.
There are thousands, like many young people trained, trained, loaded with projects who
see in Ezeiza the only bridge
to some certainties that their land steals from them.
They are thousands, like older adults relegated to the most shameful oblivion and losing their most valuable ties.

Stranded, the word that cannot be pronounced at the Chancellery. Stranded that seem like an anonymous shadow, without name or body, without age or face, that many some media do not mention. And that of
"what I see, what I do not name, does not exist"
is repeated
.
What paradoxes in this country! To deny the reality that hurts we hide it, we do not mention it, we silence it and some time later, when it explodes, we say
"but how did we not realize it?"
The stranded are men and women, they have the most diverse ages, they have traveled for multiple reasons: work, health, family, tourism.
Their trips have been paid for with their own resources,
they are not asking the State for special repatriation flights
.
They only ask that entry quotas be lifted because, among other things, no country prevents the re-entry of residents and citizens under established protocols.
The consular delegations that, although they have officials who would like to give a hand, are limited because from Argentina there are no responses to the minimum requirements for basic consular care. "
.
Argentina made an arbitrary decision (as the quota criterion is arbitrary),
it changed the rules of the game for some, while others enter and leave the country with privileges or while the airspace continued to be crossed by private flights coming from abroad. Why do the stranded have to give explanations of their life, spend days sleeping in an airport, desperately seek medication, run the risk of losing work sources and suffer anguish before consular delegations that, although they have officials who would like to give a hand, are limited because from Argentina
there are no answers to the minimum requirements
of basic consular care?
So, if one day you feel that they are persecuting you, that they limit you,
that your freedoms are trampled on,
that your expression is censored, that your creativity is canceled and before the cry of freedom, you need the solidary response, do not wait for them to touch you. doorbell.
And if today the constitutional violation of freedom of movement does not touch you closely, awaken your generosity, copy this text, share it, viralize it, help it circulate and reach the ears of those who have the responsibility of
giving answers to the Argentine stranded in different parts of the world.
We are many families who are going through this serious crisis, without knowing when our husbands, loved ones or friends will return.

THE EDITOR'S COMMENT
By César Dossi
Individual freedoms at risk
"Look at the operation that we had to carry out by
totally irresponsible people who leave the country, come
back and do not comply with the regulations,"
said Kicillof's Chief of Staff, Carlos Bianco, earlier this month when he justified the stocks of flights and quarantine in hotels.
It is true, some did not comply and will be subject to financial sanctions and criminal complaints.
But
Bianco cannot put everyone in the same bag
and lightly label people who traveled for work or health care as reckless, beyond those who traveled for tourism.
If there were a present, efficient and functional State, perhaps it would have occurred to him to activate an emergency network for those stranded abroad.
Afternoon!
It is because, out
of solidarity,
absent from the government's agenda, 40 countries offered a house and food to Argentines who cannot return.
Juan Pablo Amand De Mendieta, an engineer and Carolina's husband, traveled to Dinant, Belgium, on June 28 for work.
His return was scheduled for Monday, July 12, but two hours before the flight was postponed,
and he has not seen his family for almost a month.
When we contemplate with disgust those campaign promises that ended in lies, the lack of vaccines, the VIPs, the President's chicanas, we see that the lethargy of the management to repatriate those Argentines
endangers individual freedoms
, and the uneasiness and the abandonment become flesh in society.
“I know that there are cases of other people abroad who are having a worse time right now. But Argentina is
the only country that prevents the return of its citizens and residents
, and the stranded require that the quotas be released, that measures be taken and protocols are put together that provide answers, as in Uruguay or Chile, ”
says Carolina.
Meanwhile, no one answers at the Chancellery.
