Strike at the Paris Opera: the intersyndicale votes to resume performances

Dancers, choristers, musicians and technicians of this institution benefit from a special pension scheme threatened by the gouve project

The free shows outside the buildings are probably over. The inter-union of the Paris Opera voted to resume work this Saturday, reveals Télérama, after nearly six weeks of a historic strike.

With the Comédie-Française, the Opéra national de Paris is the only cultural institution to have a special regime. Dancers, in particular, can retire from the age of 42, taking into account the arduousness of the profession, the risks of injury and the difficulty of exercising in large ballets beyond this age.

Nearly 70 canceled shows

Since the start of the social movement on December 5, nearly 70 shows have been canceled at the Palais Garnier and the Opéra Bastille. Stéphane Lissner, director of the company, said this Saturday that "a new sequence in the conflict has started". "Now the majority of employees want to go back to work," he announces.

According to Télérama, a text should be read in this sense before the performance of Les Contes d'Hoffmann, this Saturday evening, at the Opéra Bastille.
