Syria won a silver medal, six bronze medals and seven certificates of appreciation at the International Olympiad of Mathematics Engineering (Igo) organized by Iran on September 13 last year with the participation of about 60 countries via the Internet.
The silver medal was won by Elie Ishoa from the High School of Aleppo for the free level, while the bronze medals were won by students George Zakhour, Mohammed Al Hafi from the High School of Aleppo on the free level, Mohammed Fouad appointed from the National School of Aleppo for the advanced level, Mohammed Anas Al Qudsi and Ali Bakour from the High School of Aleppo. Representing Syria, 146 students from different governorates were distributed to four centers in Damascus, Baath, Aleppo and Tishreen universities.
The four-and-a-half hour online tests were conducted simultaneously on the Internet by each team in their country through high-level engineering tests. Participants were divided into four age groups: beginner level 7th, 8th, intermediate, ninth, tenth and advanced, second and third grades. Secondary and free level for undergraduate and over 20 years of age.
