On Thursday morning, the sad news of the death of the young Olympic athlete Braian Toledo was known in a traffic accident with his motorcycle in his hometown, Marcos Paz .
Gustavo Osorio was his coach since he attended elementary school at School No. 15 until 2016, when Braian decided to go to Finland, the great cradle of javelin throwers, to improve and continue growing. And it was not easy, since for the first time he moved away from Osorio, his lifelong teacher .
"I was 13 years with him. I took care of him and protected him . He always accompanied me and was like a son . I don't understand anything, he was a beautiful person," Osorio told FM 94.7 at the sad news.
In communication with C5N , Osorio said that he had not seen him since he stopped training him: "My wife called me at dawn, they called me athletics people and then messages from everywhere, I couldn't believe it."
The memory of Braian in the school was transmitted by Osorio, who related that this passion for the sport arose during the Physical Education classes: "We encourage children to participate in the Municipal Athletics School to have more game stimulation and that's how we started with him, until he clung more to me in training. ”
Osorio also referred to the humble origins of Toledo: “His family was very poor, with very low resources. He always showed great desire to be and learn, we were a team with his family building his training. ”
“Braian's father did not live with them, he visited him periodically. I was dealing with his mother, Rosa, ”he explained.
Regarding the characteristics of the athlete, Osorio said: “He was very disciplined , a very good person, a very good companion and worker. He was always next to me. ”
In a talk with FM 94.7 the coach said: "I was linked to his growth for many years, so it makes me so proud to see how he trained as a person."
" My medal was to see how he grew up , how he fought for his own," Osorio acknowledged in tears.
