The AFL has recently received hundreds of layoffs, involving 286 companies. More than 600 employees have been laid off, 140 of whom have been owed wages by their employers, with a total amount of over 3.6 million in arrears, of which some employees have been owed about one year.

The AFL stated that the current Wages on Insolvency Protection Fund failed to protect employees who were in arrears with salaries and that workers had to go through a number of procedures when applying for compensation for arrears. The AFL explained that after a worker is in arrears of wages, she must first file a case with the Labour Department, and then proceed to the Labour Tribunal. After obtaining the Labor Tribunal's ruling, she must also file a bankruptcy or winding-up petition with her employer before she can officially apply for the fund arrears. Salary compensation, the application process has a lot of barriers.

The AFL urges the government to issue outstanding debts to affected workers as soon as possible, and at the same time take the initiative to study and simplify the application procedures for compensation for arrears of wages.
