(CNN) - Hurricane Dorian was no match for wild horses on the beaches of North Carolina.

While the damage left after the hurricane passed last week is examined on the coast of North Carolina, it seems that the wild horses of the External Banks survived another monstrous storm.

The Corolla Wild Horse Fund, which manages these sturdy horses, published a series of photos after the storm that showed several of them seemingly without discomfort while chewing grass in the rain. The fund said it seems that the horses survived the storm.

“The storm has passed and things on the farm are fine! No major damage. Lots of water, but it should drain quickly. Nothing that these beach ponies are not used to, ”published the Corolla Wild Horse Fund.

In a follow-up post, he said that the horses appear to be complete and that there is no reason to believe they suffered injuries. He also said that the horses in the Reserve Rachel Carson and Ocracoke were safe.

When Hurricane Dorian approached, the Spanish Mustangs snuggled out of the storm with a trick they have used for centuries.

During storms, they move to higher ground and concentrate under sturdy oaks to protect themselves from the storm, the fund said. "They survive the winds and the rain as their ancestors did before them," he added.

Unlike humans living in the External Banks, wild horses are better equipped to face a hurricane. Before a storm arrives, they feel a change in air pressure and group together.

"Remember, they have been doing this for 500 years!" Said the fund.

The horses had hay and extra grain, and their feeders were full of water. They also had braided identification tags on their mane, and the herd manager resisted the storm on the farm with them, the fund said.

Dorian's almost two-week road left devastation in the Bahamas, where he razed houses and entire neighborhoods, leaving at least 50 people dead and 70,000 affected.

In the United States, the hurricane made landfall at Cape Hatteras, North Carolina, and touched other states on the east coast. Five deaths have been attributed to Dorian so far in the US.

More than a million people in parts of South Carolina and North Carolina were under mandatory evacuation orders, meteorologists said.
