The ongoing aggression by the Saudi-led coalition against Yemen will deprive 2 million children from going to school this year, according to new statistics published by the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) today.

"In light of the ongoing war in Yemen, there are 2 million children out of school, including nearly half a million who have dropped out of school since March 2015," the agency said in a statement.

The statement warned that the education of another 3.7 million children out of seven million school-age children in Yemen is at stake, where the salaries of teachers have not been paid for more than two years.

For her part, UNICEF Representative in Yemen Sara Beslo Niyanti said that war, attacks on schools and displacement that prevent many children from reaching these schools and delaying development and poverty are depriving millions of children in Yemen of their right to education.

Niyanti warned of the dangers of this and said that when children do not attend school, they are exposed to innumerable risks of exploitation, abuse and other rights violations.

The Saudi regime has continued its aggression against the Yemenis since 26 March 2015 with various types of weapons, leaving tens of thousands of civilian victims and humanitarian disasters at various levels.
