A premature onset of winter has plagued millions of Spaniards. In the northern half of the country, large parts of the country were covered with a thick and large white blanket on Friday after heavy snowfall at night. Snowfall fell to 700 meters in some regions.
More than 80 roads, including major highways and highways, were closed or were nearly impassable for normal cars, the authorities said. The weather service Aemet had previously spent on Friday for 20 of the country's 50 provinces alert Orange or yellow.

Winter also arrived on the popular holiday island of Mallorca: on Friday it was mostly cold, windy and rainy; in the mountains, precipitation even fell in the form of snow.
Not only in Spain, but also in France it snowed sometimes strong: Due to heavy snowfall on Friday in the southeast of the country continued hundreds of thousands of people without electricity. In the Départements Drôme, Isère, Rhône and Ardèche were around 320,000 households without electricity, as the network operator Enedis announced. Around 2000 employees were on duty to repair the damage. Already on Thursday evening the onset of winter in the east of the country had caused chaos on roads and rails.
