Because of a possible World War II bomb in Göttingen, there will be restrictions on rail traffic on Saturday. Around 14,000 people had been asked to leave their homes since early morning. Also the station was evacuated in the morning. Long-distance trains go without stopping by Göttingen. Above the restricted area, a flight ban applies until the evening.
"So far, everything is going very well and quietly," said city spokesman Dominik Kimyon. The suspicious object was found during construction work last week. The ordnance clearance service assumes that it concerns a bomb dud from the Second World War.

Residents from the danger area will be accommodated in the cafeteria of the university hospital
If the suspicion is confirmed, the ordnance disposal service can only decide in the course of the investigation whether the bomb can be defused or blown up. The experts can start their work when the evacuation is complete.
The Deutsche Bahn appealed to passengers to inform themselves about their connection before traveling. Restrictions are therefore expected to 16.00 clock.
