Heat, humidity and tropical systems have been the nemesis of athletes during these Olympics, and the closing weekend will bring more of the same.
Although heat and humidity in July and August are common, these levels were above average.

Latin Americans who won medals
Latin American athletes won several medals at the Tokyo Olympics.
Here we introduce you to each of them.
Cuba and Brazil lead the regional group, followed by Ecuador, with two historical golds.
Venezuela celebrates the unprecedented gold of Yulimar Rojas.
This week Colombia obtained important silver medals, Mexico was left with bronze in soccer.
And in Argentina the silver of the Leonas stood out in field hockey.

Why do Olympic divers shower and use those little towels between jumps?
Spectators at the Tokyo Olympics are apparently a bit baffled by the behavior of athletes at Olympic diving or diving events.
Divers often get out of the water after a dive and immediately take a quick shower next to the pool, even if they are already wet.
They are then dried with small towels, although they will get wet again on the next dive.
