Yesterday, a 60-year-old man, a resident of Yavne, was taken to Assuta Hospital in Ashdod after he suffocated from a donut. The man is rushed to the hospital anesthetized and respirated. After arriving at the medical center, the doctors removed the remains of the donut from the trachea, and at the end of the treatment, he returned to breathing independently. After recovering, his condition was defined as mild.
"This is a 63-year-old man who suffocated while eating a donut, the family called medical forces, he had difficulty breathing and suffocation, they put in a breathing tube and evacuated him to us. "Breathe on his own. In a short time we were able to regain his regular breathing," said Dr. Debra West, director of the emergency room at the hospital.
"The rapid identification and treatment of MDA and continued hospital treatment saved his life," Dr. West added, explaining that "it is important for the general public to be able to identify cases of suffocation: a person holding his throat after eating is unable to speak or cough or change color. "His face - in all these cases there is a suspicion of suffocation and MDA teams must be called as soon as possible and action must be taken to evacuate the hospital quickly."
