The China National Space Agency has announced that China's Chang'e-5 lunar probe is preparing for a smooth landing on the moon for its first mission to collect samples from a planet outside Earth.
Xinhua quoted the authority as saying that the landing and ascending spacecraft group separated this morning from the orbiter and return vehicle group, indicating that the vehicle is working well and communications with control on the ground are normal.
The Chang'e 5 mission, which was launched last Tuesday, is one of the most complex and challenging missions in the history of Chinese airspace, in addition to being the first mission to collect samples from the moon in the world for more than 40 years.
